Our Reserve Black Spice 2014 is a great new red blend from our award-winning winemaker, Therese de Beer. A blend of both Shiraz and Grenache is heavenly as they were definitely made for each other. Soft, perfumed Grenache loves hanging out with the boldly flavoured, spicy Shiraz. The finished wine is savoury but full of pure red fruits.
The Shiraz grapes for this blend was sourced from an old Shiraz vineyard in Robertson, positioned on poor and unweathered soil while the Grenache is from a vineyard in Franschhoek, known for its sandy alluvial soils. Both these cultivars are extremely adaptable during dry seasons and produce wines that are deep and concentrated.
This full flavoured red blend deserves equally flavourful food pairings and we suggest you try it with succulent venison dishes, pork tenderloin with pomegranate sauce or a spicy chorizo and olive pizza.

DID YOU KNOW
Grenache, or as it’s known by its Spanish name, Garnacha, is one of the most widely planted red grapes in the world; it’s also one of the key ingredients in some of the world’s most famous wines, one of them being the famous French Rhone blend Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
