Our newest blend, our Reserve Red Rock, is a wine that showcases the very best elements of a powerful Bordeaux-style blend. By combining some of the most robust red varieties, the Red Rock stands out for its power, quality, and complexity.
The blend is comprised of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot and 10% Petit Verdot, which perfectly balances dark fruit notes, red fruit notes and intense colour.
The grapes used for this wine come from quality vines in Paarl, where the intense heat ensures well-ripened berries with high fruit concentration. When producing the wine, the grapes were destemmed, lightly crushed, and moved to open stainless steel fermentation tanks where commercial yeast was added. Flavour and colour development was achieved by regular pump-overs and punch-downs every 4 hours.
To add a different dimension to the wine, we allowed the wine to mature for 18 months in French oak barrels, 20% of which were new barrels. As a result, the wine is supple and structured, with the perfect combination of fruit and oak.
On the Nose
The nose welcomes you with intense layers of red fruits, ripe plums, and black currants.
On the Palate
On the palate, expect a smooth entry, deliciously plush with cherry and raspberry dominating every sip. Cedar tones and spicy nuances round off the finish.
Considering the structure of the wine, it is an incredible option for red meat, especially roast lamb and seared ribeye steak. It can also be enjoyed alongside a rich beef stew.
