Pinotage is a proudly South African varietal. And we are a proud producer of this versatile wine. Our Barony Bønne Pinotage derives its name from the original Rosendal Norwegian heritage. Bønne easily translates to bean, which gives a hint into the soft coffee notes of this fantastic wine.
Described by our award-winning winemaker, Therese de Beer, this Pinotage has a deep and dark hue. Smokey whiffs of cocoa-dusted blueberries, roasted coffee beans and warm spice greet the nose. The palette is tantalised by bright cherry and baked plum flavours. It is luscious and juicy with good structure and ripe subtle tannins.
This wine is a great elegant sipper on its own with good company. It will also pair perfectly with BBQ mixed grills and exotic hot Indian curries. You could also dim the lights, sit back, enjoy a glass of this great wine while you indulge in decadent dark bitter chocolate truffles.
