In a recent blind tasting review of 43 South African wines, hosted by the influential Denmark industry publication, Din Vin Guide, Rosendal achieved one of the top three ratings for our Barony Bonne Pinotage 2013.
The top three excellent wines all scored 91 out of 100 and was rated by the well known Thomas Rydberg and Mads Jordansen. The article concludes that "the top wines in this critique are of similar quality as the best entry level grand cru's of Bordeaux".
According to our award-winning winemaker, Therese de Beer, the wine underwent 100% malolactic fermentation done in combination with dark toasted French oak. She notes that the Pinotage is blended with 15% Petit Verdot which brings out the smokey whiffs of roasted coffee beans and dusty cocoa that greet the nose.
The published review reads:
"Cola og ristet kaffe i duften med en frisk, rød frugt. Stringent of elegant struktureret. God balance of intensitet. En lang eftersmag med en frisk og kølig frugt og et lækkert fadpræg."
