Grapes for the Shiraz was harvested and hand-picked in the early morning from the foothills of the Helderberg Mountains. The maritime climate ensures warm sunny days that are cooled down by the ocean breezes in the afternoon.
The Grenache was harvested from the Simonsberg Mountains in Paarl. The shale soils maintain strong and healthy vines. Both cultivars were vinified separately and were moved into 300L French Oak barrels. A mix of 1st to 3rd fill barrels were used ensuring mild wood integration. The wines aged for 14-18 months.
This juicy blend is sure to seduce the senses with its bright red sheen and whiffs of red berries and warm spices. The serious nature of Shiraz marries perfectly with the playfulness of Grenache. The aromas of ripe plums and hints of coffee create a wine with a vibrant, yet generous palate. The finish is delightfully smooth with volume and a surprising length. This red blend is paired with Mediterranean fares like roasted red pepper and olive pasta or try it with barbeque meats spiced with sage and rosemary salt.
