We are proud to announce our latest release, Rosendal Merlot 2015. According to our winemaker, Therese de Beer, 2015 was an exceptional year for red wines and we couldn't agree more after tasting the 2015 Merlot.
The 2015 harvest was one of the driest and earliest in years and although the harvest was on average smaller than normal, it produces exceptional wines. Berry sizes were smaller and temperate fluctuations were minimal leading to low PH, higher acidity and excellent flavours.
Expect a vibrant ruby colour with a faint brick-red rim and a melange of fragrant mulberries, plums and cedar spice on the nose.
The palate excites with plush red fruit and mint chocolate characters ending with a soft, dry finish.
The grapes were handpicked, destemmed in the cellar and crushed into stainless steel tanks. The wine was left on the skins for 2-3 weeks and moved to french oak barrels for 20-month maturation.
Our Merlot is a bold wine that pairs perfectly with hearty dishes such as stews, casserols and pasta.
